Coronavirus Update

Event organisers, Etiom, continue to monitor the situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak very closely, taking the advice of the World Health Organisation, UK and Scottish Government and NHS Scotland. The risk to the UK remains moderate.

Following the UK Government COBRA meeting on 9th March, there are currently no recommendations to cancel events and as such we can confirm that Scottish Self-Build and Renovation 2020 (Highlands) will go ahead as scheduled on 14-15 March 2020 at Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.

The overwhelming majority of pre-registered visitors and exhibitors are resident in Scotland and none of the exhibiting teams scheduled to attend the event are based in locations identified as 'High Risk' by the WHO and UK Health Authorities.

Some high profile events that have been postponed or cancelled recently, including Self-Build and Renovation Birmingham, due to their anticipated high volumes of attendees and exhibitors who are potentially unable to travel now, and/or the shows have been cancelled for commercial reasons.

We will only postpone Scottish Self-Build and Renovation 2020 (Highlands) on the instruction of the UK Government or the Venue operator. In the unlikely event of a postponement we will work with our exhibitors and sponsors to explore a viable contingency plan.

Irrespective, we continue to encourage all exhibitors and visitors to the event to maintain good hygiene including carrying tissues, using them to catch coughs and sneezes then binning the tissue and washing hands with soap and water (for 20 seconds) or using sanitiser gel to kill germs. As responsible event organisers, we will have santising wipes, tissues and bins at the event reception area and the venue operator will have bins located throughout the event hall. Exhibitors will also have mitigating measures to make Scottish Self-Build and Renovation 2020 (Highlands) as safe an environment as it can be. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Drumossie Hotel.
